Stories love to hold a backstory reveal for as long as they can, because it builds suspense. The problem is, you also give the audience a lot of time to imagine what you’re building to. If your reveal doesn’t surprise us in some meaningful way, it’s likely to disappoint.
If Acolyte 107 surprises us with its reveal of what actually happened to the witches on Brendok when Osha and Mae were kids, it’s with just how much it feels the need to destroy any remaining semblance of affection we might have for the Jedi either individually or as an order.
