EPISODE 636: HAVE A HOLLY JOLLY OMICRON CHRISTMAS
And a fuzzy blanket to swallow grandchildren.
POP CULTURE SPIRIT WOW
What a difference a week makes, amirite? Here in New York, it started with stories about hours-long lines to get tested, which no doubt fueled people’s fear that they needed to get tested. By the end of the week the high number of cases was causing offices to cancel Christmas parties or just plain close and go back to Zoom for the time being (my own among them). SNL even mostly cancelled its Christmas show after a number of actors caught the virus.
We’re not at the same point we were a year ago. Nowhere near, in fact. Thank God for vaccines and boosters! It sure is hard though watching it all ramp up again.
Might be a good couple weeks to try and do a little bit of self-care. If you’re sad or frustrated, give yourself some time to feel that. If you need a boost, go back to one of your happy places (or shows) (or movies).
Here’s a couple little things of my own for your stocking.
A Song that Seems Fitting To Me Right Now
Actually This One Does, Too…
And Since We’re Here, This Week’s Moment of Sondheim.
Okay, that’s enough feeling. Let’s go day drinking with Seth Meyers and Will Forte!
A new Matrix movie is coming out on Christmas, but this is the one that I want.
And speaking of science fiction, here’s John Lewis’ sweet new Christmas ad.
And Norway’s wonderful gay equivalent.
And speaking of queer icons, here’s Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon doing their best to make us laugh.
And finally this clip from Bob Mortimer, which really is my happy place.
Merry Christmas and a happy holidays to you and yours.
I’ll be back next week with some end of the year nerdery.
Ho ho ho!
