EPISODE 399: WHEN ONE WEEK IS NOT ENOUGH
So it turns out I'm away from PCSW one more week. Forgive me; crazy days!
(Actually I'm in a sort of a think mode, trying to plan out the next 6-9 months of work and life. Lots of staring into space, yellow legal pads and English breakfast tea. It's been kind of great.
It has also included watching a lot of possible Oscar nominees and reading Vox and The Power, two dystopias about gender that are equally disturbing but go in remarkably different directions.
Vox: A conservative Christian government comes into power, throws women out of everything and forces them to wear bracelets that allow them only 100 words a day. Brutal idea that imagines a highly accomplished female scientist and mother in the midst of this nightmare.
The Power: Young women all over the world begin to discover they have the ability to generate electricity. #!%! gets real very very quickly. SO quickly and SO real. I wish I had realized just how real before I gave it to my 15 year old niece for Christmas.)
Until then, a couple little sumpin' sumpins to tide you over.

Also, George R.R.R.Arr.R.R.Argh.R. Martin gets interviewed when for God's sake can we just get the Winds of Winter already? Michelle Obama's book tour has gotten TWENTY THOUSAND PEOPLE at each of its first ten stops. My friend Micah made a short film about a guy with a gun in his hand that is pretty amazing.
And it's nice to know Oscars cares about the world's most popular films when it could maybe save their telecast, but how about actually giving them some awards first?
Or hey, enjoy the Thanositizing of your audience numbers.

Back next week with Season Four!
